From soft morning prep glows to golden hour portraits, Meldrum House’s lighting is a total win. The prep rooms in particular are drenched in beautiful light, so whether you’re getting your lashes done or sharing a quiet moment with your mum, everything looks warm, fresh, and full of life.

You don’t need to vanish from your own wedding to get incredible portraits. The grounds offer a ton of variety in just a few steps - from the manor’s grand front to leafy walkways and those open lawns. We can get dreamy, editorial-level shots in twenty minutes flat, and you’re straight back to the party.

It’s bold, playful, and totally unexpected - and it just works. Whether it’s bridal party chaos or a stolen couple’s kiss, the arch near the old stables has this way of elevating every frame. It’s Insta-gold, but still feels completely in tune with the venue’s charm.

They’re not always there, but when they are, they steal the show. I’ve (gently) waved bouquets and crinkled snack bags trying to tempt them closer - and honestly? Worth every second. Those photos are always the ones people remember.

Also, guests are usually fed pretty well on a wedding day, canapes, 3 courses, an evening buffet. If you want to keep this cake petite and cute, don't feel like you need a huge one to feed the masses. Enjoy it between the two of you and maybe share a little with family and besties in the morning - that's one way to cure a hangover! Yum!

Not all weddings are the same! If you feel like the traditional timeline is too much for you. Try mixing things up! If you don’t want a first dance, or you want to do group shots before your ceremony - that's all totally realistic and do-able!
3rd thing to remember
A lot of outside influence can come from parents, or family members, often those who have already had their wedding day. They think they know best.
But, just remember, this day is not about them.
It is about YOU!! If Auntie Joan from Spain and your 10th cousin are not people you really want to invite. You don’t need permission to say no. The guest list is yours to write! 🎉

1st thing to remember

Scotland, we love you, but you can be unpredictable! Meldrum has stunning indoor ceremony and photo options if the weather’s moody. For group photos there’s an area right outside the back door, with a nice moody slate wall, and I have often used this area when we are in a pinch, it’s simple and timeless and a great back up option! I’ll always keep an eye on the forecast for dry spells so we can nip outside when we can.
All around the grounds—from the elegant house exterior to tree-lined paths and wide open lawns. We’ll keep it chill and relaxed, just the two of you (with me buzzing in the background, obvs).
No worries! The main ballroom or stables are perfect for indoor ceremonies, and it’s light and airy enough for stunning photos even if the weather’s doing its Scottish thing. Plus, there are plenty of indoor spots for couple and group shots if we need to duck inside.
Yes! While the two main ceremony spaces are indoors, I’ve photographed a beautiful outdoor ceremony here before—and it was just dreamy. We’ll just keep our fingers crossed for the weather!
Yes! They don't always make an appearance but it's certainly on my to do list for the day to take a stroll past them with you to tempt them over! Nothing beats petting an adorable highland cow on your wedding day (well...except the actual marrying your best friend thing!)
It is a hotel and open to the public, but your ceremony space is private and there’s a separate bar downstairs for all your guests, so you won’t be mingling with the public. It’s actually quite handy having a wedding in a hotel, as it’s super easy for your guests to book a room for the night, meaning you don't need to worry about putting on buses for your guests!
