Ashley and Owen’s rustic chic Scottish wedding with whisky and cigars was perfectly them

Ballogie House was the perfect setting for Ashley and Owen’s rustic chic Scottish wedding. The rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and made us get creative for their couples portraits!

Their romantic and super emotional ceremony was set up in the marquee, beautifully styled with autumnal florals and a gorgeous arch for the to stand at. Owen had commissioned his friend to write a piece of music dedicated to Ashley, and he played this on this fiddle during the ceremony. A super personal touch! After their ceremony I handed out confetti to their guests and we made the quick decision to do their confetti shot indoors, as they walked down the aisle, since it was raining! I love their confetti shot, it’s so cute doing it this way! And a lot less organising, keeping timing nice and on track for the rest of their day.

Ashley and Owen made it clear to me that they wanted to spend as little time as possible on their wedding day having photos taken, and being away from guests. They really wanted to spend as much time enjoying the day, that they had worked so hard to plan, as they possibly could. So I made sure to structure their photos around this. We spent only 10 minutes (yes, it’s possible!) capturing their short group shot list, as their guests sat down for dinner.

We made sure to capture fun photos of their guests, at the beautiful front door to Ballogie House, and we even managed to sneak them away from their guests for 10 minutes to capture some of their own fun, and laid back pictures.

Because it rained all day, we only headed out to capture some romantic and cosy shots of them sharing a cigar in the rain and then kept them dry by playing some pool indoors. I love these pictures so much, and it feels so “them”!
