If you’re considering having a more intimate scottish wedding, then check out Rachel and Stevie’s wedding day at Meldrum house where they hired me for 3 hours to capture the day and it’s relaxed atmosphere.

Rachel and Stevie made it clear when they booked me that having lots of photos was entirely not their thing. They wanted minimal time away from guests, and as least “posing” as they could possibly get away with. I got it. I knew exactly what they were asking of me.

The most import thing to them was that they got the essential pictures with family, a few nice ones together and a few with their daughter. They weren’t bothered about capturing morning preparations, in fact they didn’t even have a bridal party. So I recommended that I attend for just 3 hours in order to capture exactly what they wanted. The day was sweet and simple, with only 40 guests, and no band or dancing in the evening. These guys knew what was on their to do list for the day, and that was get married, celebrate with family, eat some good food, play come board games and have an early night tucked up into bed. It sounded like perfection to me. I love when couples take a moment to reflect on what is truly important to them. And if that’s a big party and loads of time in the spotlight, I am here for it! But it’s important to remember we all have our own personality types and some people’s idea of perfect can be totally different. I am here for all of it!

This day was a particularly windy one, which can be difficult to contend with, but there’s always a more sheltered spot for family photos and I will always find it, even if that means doing them indoors. Thankfully these guys were up for facing the elements for their couples portraits, which I always love! Wind in the hair always looks super romantic and with a floaty dress, you can’t beat it!
