Leah & Ben’s Rustic woodland wedding at Elrick House
Can you believe that Leah & Ben’s wedding was the 2nd wedding EVER at Elrick House (the brand new wedding venue at House of Elrick). And what a gorgeous venue it is! Situated just outside of Newmachar, this wedding venue is a little hidden gem and feels very secluded.
The main house sleeps 22 people (perfect if, like Leah & Ben, you wanna have all your besties nearby for the whole weekend), and has more accommodation on site if you want to extend your best wedding day ever into the best wedding weekend ever!!
Leah and Ben had 150 day guests, with more joining in the evening, which is why Elrick House is perfect if you wanna have a booty shakin, epic wedding celebration (just like Leah & Ben) or if you prefer something a little more intimate it’s great for smaller weddings too.

How the day unfolded
Leah & Ben got married in the gorgeous “Barnquee” at Elrick House which has so much natural light, a round bar in the middle of the room and the other side of the room had their evening tables beautifully set up but hidden behind a curtain.
The weather was so insanely good it felt like we were somewhere in Greece and not the north east of Scotland.
Sadly the accommodation at this venue is not dog friendly but their dog came along just for a few pics with them, but they also have a wee “Easter egg” on their cake, when you looked at the back, it was their dog ralf eating a bite out of the cake – cuuute!!
This couple just wanted to party and be with their guests so we decided to keep the portrait shots short & sweet – with a short walk around the venue just before dinner. There was never a dull moment with these two, and we got some really lovely moments of the two of them.
My other half Josh was on hand to film a boujee highlight reel – which is always a super fun add on if you’re looking for something a little edgier – more alternative than the usual tearjerker. Think of it as the TL;DR of wedding films – because not everyone wants to watch 15 min of speeches!
I decided to keep bridal party group shots seriously fun with this lot, because traditional was not their game.
So I moved some furniture around, and got this beautiful sofa in front of their floral arch and we had some fun there with “posing – non – posing” which basically entails me giving you a loose idea of the vibe we are going for and everyone taking their own interpretation of it.
We did this again later in the evening on the beautiful steps at the front of the house.
Moments that made us ROFL🤣
Leah and Ben are the perfectly silly and most in love pair I have ever seen. They absolutely radiate awesomeness. I swear Leah must have been my sister in another life because I could have laughed and joked with that girl all day, and of course we had a spot of twerking together in the evening! She’s just an all round legend. Ben too of course!
Best parts about working at Elrick House
Hands down – the staff!! It is run by the 3 sisters (Emma, Faye & Hayley) at 3 tiers creative and they absolutely owned it!! I can honestly say I have never seen a wedding run so smoothly and was seriously impressed.
Dance floor vibes
The waterfront band made the most epic dance floor I think I might have even seen!!
I have never felt so hyped to see a couple come on for their first dance because the singer got everyone involved!
I think I took a photo of every single person in a circle clapping their hands and chanting for their bride and groom.
They were truly made to feel like rockstars. The band themselves are so hype and their guitarist was jumping off the speakers and I was honestly having the time of my life, so if you are yet to book a band, check them out!!
Leah & Ben were seriously keen to set the mood for the day, with 3 different musicians playing throughout the day. The Big Papas kept the afternoon absolutely buzzing. And a string quartet played over dinner which was so lovely.
Take a look at Leah & Ben’s epic Highlight Reel
I love that Leah & Ben chose to include a Boujee Highlight reel to capture all the feels of their wedding day. This is a new add on that I am offering my clients – it’s kinda like the TL;DR of wedding films!! It’s like watching your own rom-com movie trailer – because not everyone wants a 15 min video filled with every detail. Sometimes you just want the highlights. Plus you don’t need to hire a videographer 🎥 🍿.
You can find out more about our Boujee Highlight Reels here.
Trends I loved from this wedding at Elrick House
There were soooooo many epic trends at Leah & Ben’s wedding – but some of my faves were:
✌️heart shaped glasses – obvi! Can you tell I luuuurve this trend
✌️Neon Signs – I mean who doesn’t need this for their wedding (or front room #justsaying)
✌️Including your furry friends – this is more a “must do” than a trend, but I may be a little biassed.
✌️Bespoke bars, with your drink of choice – The couple had Dutch Courage bar hire on top form all day with a Prosecco bar, for after ceremony drinks, an hour of espresso and pornstar martinis in the evening.
Fun Photos that Leah & Ben chose to include:
✌️A bridal party reveal – which everyone had to grab a tissue for
✌️First look – daddy daughter reveal (a personal fave)
✌️And tons of shots of the couple having an absolute blast with their guests
