A Haddo House Wedding – no frills, no fuss, just pure, simple romance

Sydney and Paul’s wedding at Haddo House was the epitome of laid-back love—no frills, no fuss, just pure, simple romance. 💖 With no reception, no party, and no decorations, their day was all about celebrating with their nearest and dearest, plus their VIP (very important pooch!) Lucy, who was not only adorable but also their ring bearer! 🐶💍

Their original plan was to have the ceremony outside, but in true Scottish style, the drizzle made its appearance! 🌧️ We quickly headed into the grand library at Haddo House, which turned out to be the perfect backdrop for their vows. This venue has so much charm and character, you really can’t go wrong with any spot!

A Ceremony Full of Love & Tradition 💫

Sydney and Paul wanted their day to feel effortless and intimate, and that’s exactly what it was. With just two hours of photography coverage, the ceremony was short and sweet, with a traditional handfasting (they literally “tied the knot” 💕). Their mums acted as witnesses and signed the marriage schedule, making it even more of a family affair.

What I love about weddings like this is that not every celebration needs to follow a traditional timeline. Sometimes, couples want to keep it simple—celebrate their love, share a meal at home with their closest family, and then get back into their comfies after a day in the glad rags. That’s exactly what Sydney and Paul had in mind, and it was perfect for them! 🤍

I always encourage my couples to throw the rule book out the window and do what feels true to them. After all, my motto is “Be you, not them!” Weddings don’t need to be full-day affairs; they can be as simple and fuss-free as you want. That’s what makes every wedding so unique!

Laid-Back Couple Photos with Their VIP 🐕

As soon as the ceremony wrapped up, we moved on to family group shots, followed by a wander around the gorgeous Haddo House grounds for some portraits—starting, of course, with Lucy! 🐾 These two were so natural together that taking photos felt more like hanging out with old friends than “posing.” Sydney was beaming as she twirled in her dress, and I made sure to capture all the sweet, carefree moments between them.

Even though they didn’t plan an official “first dance,” I got them swaying and dancing in the gardens—it was such a magical moment for them, and I’m so glad they’ll have that memory captured forever. 💃🏼🕺🏻

🌿 A wedding day that was all about love, family, and keeping things simple

Sydney and Paul’s wedding was proof that not every celebration needs to follow tradition. It’s your day—do it your way! Whether that means a full-day party or a cozy, fuss-free ceremony followed by a home-cooked meal, every wedding is unique and special. That’s the beauty of it. ❤️
